Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) is the new police chief of Amity Island but terror stalks the waters in the shape of a man-eating shark. Brody finds himself at odds with the local mayor when he tries to shut the beaches but when the deaths pile up they have no choice and Brody heads out to sea to hunt the shark down. With him are Ocean expert Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfus) and gruff shark hunter Quint (Robert Shaw).
